Following the run-away success of the debut collection of Miss Lanvin dolls in signature looks from Lanvin's previous collections, Monsieur Alber Elbaz has done it again! Presenting, Elbaz's wrenching romantic Spring Summer 2008 Miss Lanvin dolls adorned in what is deemed as one of Lanvin's best collections to date.
This latest collection of Miss Lanvin has been whipped off the runway with a touch of novelty. Each of the 7 has been portrayed in a series of daily activities with 6 being dressed in heart-racing pieces from the highly acclaimed Spring Summer 2008 collection. Enter the realm of dramatic pleated dresses which balloon into airborne train movements in bold explosive colors of red and yellow, as well as red-carpet worthy mini numbers heavily embellished and adorned with ostrich plume - for a girl's every fantasy. On one day she could be a chi-chi dog-walking socialite in an electric blue ruffled dress or a tres chic mother in a multi-tiered ruffled coral bustier dress.
One of the biggest fantasies perhaps is from Monsieur Elbaz himself when he closed the Spring Summer 2008 show with a tuxedo-clad model in his signature cropped pants and oversized bowtie. He swiftly transformed this fantasy into a red-lipped uber-cool andrognous doll, topped off with a fedora hat. After all Madame Jeanne Lanvin began her craft as a milliner.
To round up the collection, Elbaz featured a doll from the timeless Blanche Collection (Bridal Collection). She is a blushing bride in a mini tiered dress with a blown away veil; the exact wedding dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie Sex And The City. With magic, the mister has metamorphosed these porcelain dolls into goddesses. And only a shrine is worthy of such divinity. How better way to pay homage?
Each of Elbaz's Miss Lanvin porcelain doll is a creation out of his personal sketches which are included in their certificate of authenticity. Packed individually into Lanvin's signature blue box, these limited edition dolls which are hand painted by appointed artists have become a phenomenon. Only 800 sets are available worldwide, making it a true fashionista's collectible. Miss Lanvin is born out of an ongoing collaboration between Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz and Franz Collection, a Taiwanese home accessories company famous worldwide for their collections of decorative objects in Chinese porcelain.
The dolls will be launched exclusively at Lanvin boutique at Wisma Atria from 22 September 2008 together with an exhibition showcasing ready-to-wear from Lanvin spring Summer 2008. From 6 October 2008, the exhibition will be moved to Takashimaya Shopping Centre Basement 1. Each doll retails at 560 Singapore dollars.
